I Always Have Something to Say

The NEW Epicure is Here and Amazing

The NEW Epicure is Here and Amazing
There are so many reasons that I love Epicure. For me, the fact that ALL their product are gluten free gives me peace of mind. I don’t have to read their labels to know for sure. Phew! They are also allergy friendly and easy to make things vegan. I have many a family member with allergies and sensitivities so having a spice product I can trust is life saving! Of course the flavours are fantastic as well.

Why do I say that this is “new” Epicure? Well the company ran into some issues and was then bought out. So it is new but old at the same time.

Because Epicure is new not all of the products are back. The most popular are the first to come back! More are being added all the time, so check back often.

The new Epicure is different in one way, they changed from a MLM structure to an Affiliate structure. What does that mean for you? Well, no one is going to ask you to sign up and sell the product and built your own team. Affiliate is all links. So I have a link that I can send people (if you want your own, that can happen too); I then receive a small commission or credit to buy my own products. Much simpler.

One of the great things about Epicure is the RECIPES! Everything you buy can be used in so many ways. If you want to check out some recipes my affiliate link will get you there.

Here is one recipe that will make you say either, “I love this one or I have always wanted to try it”. It is so good!

How I Found the Emotion Code and Learned How to Release the Emotional Baggage

How I Found the Emotion Code and Learned How to Release the Emotional Baggage
My name is Dawn Dykman and natural healing is my game. I have always been an environmentalist and using the most chemical free products I could find. I did my first cleanse when I was 26 years young. I learned about Aroma Freedom to use essential oils and affirmations to help change the way you think of myself. My intuition was always strong and when I learned about frequencies and meditation, I naturally found energy work fascinating.

In walks the Emotion Code to my life.

I was in a funk. I was feeling like something was missing and I couldn’t get my self together. I had a friend ask me if I ever had my heart wall cleared before; nope. She said you probably should. 6 months later I still hadn’t done it although I did research it. I thought it was something I should do and it was an interesting process. So we had the SAME conversation over again 6 months. She said you probably should have your heart wall cleared.

I booked an appointment that day!

It was an email appointment. I didn’t have to go anywhere. Super easy. I filled out a form and she was going to do the energy work and send me an email with the results (emotions that were released). Perfect! But I thought it was a little weird, I have had other energy work done and I had to be done in person. I was ready to try anything, the funk had gone on long enough. I HAD to do something - anything!

The email I received was spot on. There was a list of emotions that were released but also the age in which it was trapped. It was so accurate and the strange part was I felt BETTER. I felt lighter, my head was on straight, I was more confident so I could get some stuff done on my list of things to do. And that was just one session!

I needed to know more!

So I did what I always to . . . research. Lol I found the book by Dr. Bradley Nelson (who created this process) and bought it. I study it like I was in college. Then I practiced on myself and any family member that would let me. There were so many times that I did just a little bit of energy work and my life got better. After over a year of making myself better I looked into taking the course so that I could improved other peoples lives too.

The course was intense but it was so interesting and I was seeing results fast! My volunteers emotions were better, their bodies worked better, they were calm and relaxed. Now I am ready to help you feel better too.

Do you think it might work for you? Do you want to know more? Send me an email/message and let me know what you would like to improve. We can chat and see if this is something that will help you too.

I am researching an on-line scheduler to make things even easier for you in the future - stay tuned!

If you would like more info about all of this follow me on my business page on Facebook, here is the link to make it easier for you. AND if you have a friend you think might need this add them too. That is how I learned about this, through a friend.

How Did I Start Running AGAIN!

How Did I Start Running AGAIN!
Okay first of all, I love to run and I have done it most of my life. What I don’t like is getting in to shape to have a decent run.

Now I am 54 and things are more interesting - easier to injure myself just stretching - lol.

I read a lot of books and there are 2 books that helped me get to this run easier than before (I will put links at the bottom if you want to take a look). The first book is Atomic Habits by James Clear and the second it Wake Up! By Lindsay Teague Moreno.

Atomic Habits has taught me HOW to insert habits I WANT in my life. There are strategies to make it easier and more fun to change my routine. I am on a journey to improve my health so that I can have a better life. Change is required - lol.

Wake Up! This one helped me decided what was really important to me. If I could start doing ONE thing that would make many things better; what would it be? Movement

The Wake Up! premise is that you pick ONE thing and DO IT FOR 100 DAYS! Sound crazy or off the wall but I have done it with other habits and those habits have stuck.

So I am trying one more thing; movement - walk/run for 15 minutes everyday for 100 days. I am currently in the beginning of my 100 days but I am already seeing fantastic results. Now I have only completed my walk/run for 19/26 days and I am okay that I am not 26/26 - you set your own parameters with this.

This is the exciting or surprising part for me. Even though I was not perfect I was shocked on day 26! My routine is that before I could eat my first meal of the day I HAD to complete my 15 minutes on the treadmill. When I was done on the treadmill I planked for as long as I could and then stretch. Day 26 I got into plank and I went twice as long or more! I got up and was like “What the heck was that? How did that happen? What does this mean?”

MAYBE I was ready to run??????

I don’t know if it was denial or me just being stubborn because I know how hard it is to get into shape, again and again. So day 27 I decided to MEDITATE about it. My intension was “How do I lose weight fast and keep it off?” My sub conscious was SCREAMING at me to run!

So I got up and went for a run - I got dressed, stretched and grabbed my music and out the door - my goal was just to run as far as I could go so I could set a goal for other runs.

OVER 1 km! It was the second hill that got me, if it wasn’t there I would have ran longer. But it is what it is and I can’t move that hill so I just need to get up the hill.

I should say that while I was starting the 100 days of movement I was also getting my food and water right. I do believe that having those 2 things in place also helped me tremendously to complete the run.

I am excited, I am ready, I feel confident that I will complete the rest of my 100 days of movement. Some I will run and rest days I will walk. If I can do this you can too, you just need to figure out what your Wake Up 100 is.

Getting back into shape this time has been WAY EASIER than before.

Here are the links to the 2 books that really helped me. You may have Atomic Habits already, it is pretty popular. https://amzn.to/3WjFzly. Wake Up was harder to find on Amazon so the link may be needed. https://amzn.to/3Qneom0

I am really curious what you will pick and if you want to share with me that would be great! I am always working on something :) Let me know how it goes.

How to Visit Family and Still Eat Gluten Free?

How to Visit Family and Still Eat Gluten Free?
Are you new eating gluten free and now you will be visiting family? Planning, cooking and eating is easier at home because YOU are in control but you when go to see family and friends you are now OUT of control. Yikes how do you get through it and not accidentally eat gluten?

It IS possible - take a deep breathe and let’s do this!

Remember we are all learning together. You may be new and your host may be new to this as well.

  1. If possible, try to let you host know in advance that you are unable to eat gluten. Answer any of their questions. Let them know that the menu does need to change but that you will have questions about ingredients. Offer to bring a dish; then you will know there is one thing for sure you can eat.
  2. Be open and easy about letting people know you don’t eat gluten. If they ask questions answer them the best you can, if you don’t know the answer then let them know that too. Or google for the answer together.
  3. I try not to make people uncomfortable, if you don’t think you can eat something, don’t. You don’t HAVE to have everything. Eat a larger portion of the food that is gluten free.
  4. Hamburgers can be dangerous. If the menu has hamburgers on it then here are a few things you can do. Before the burgers are made ask what they normally put in them. If there are crackers or oats ask if it is possible to make one patty with nothing in it. BBQ sauce can have gluten, some don’t - double check. If they are from a box just read the ingredients. The GRILL, this is possible as well. Ask the person that is cooking to cook your plain burger off to the side. The grill will need to be scraped too - cross contamination may happen from previous meals.
  5. Bring your own bun/bread for the meal.
  6. Let your host know that not every dish needs to be gluten free, you will just need to know which ones are.
Eating out is not always a treat for me. It is work. I make the best decisions I can with the information I have. Sometimes I eat and sometimes I don’t. Not very often, I still will eat gluten accidentally.

If you are eating with close family or friends or people that are ready for more detailed information here are some more quick tips.

  1. Don’t use their toaster or use a reusable toaster bag
  2. Only use condiments that are squeeze bottles.
  3. Look for hidden gluten - soy sauce, BBQ sauce, gravies, salad dressings - I try to sneak peak the bottles or google it.
  4. I try and get my own butter dish; if not I don’t eat it.
  5. Bring a dish - try new recipes that you think everyone may enjoy that is GF.
I have helpful trick that is easy to teach others; it works for allergies and intolerances. And it is one of the things that gives me peace of mind. I call it the “one pot one spoon” rule.  One utensil can only go into one pot. The utensil is then placed on a plate - not the counter. Only GF spoons go on the plate. That way they can be mixed up. If you have more than one food issue then there are more plates. One gluten free, one dairy free or nut free. There is more dishes but everyone is safe. Hint - offer to help with dishes :)

I try to treat people with patients, kindness and grace. And when all else fails I have snacks in my purse. We are all learning together.

My hope that these tips were helpful for both the person that is gluten free and for the potential hosts in the future.

I have a group where I share more info on GF and how to make this way of eating easier. If you want more info here is a link for you.

Bon Appetit

Eating Safely while Vacationing

Eating Safely while Vacationing
So there I was. . .  I had not traveled for 10 years AND I was eating gluten free back then. I had a LOT to figure out. If you have food sensitive or allergies you know what I am talking about.

Eating out is always dangerous; I mean here in Canada where we speak the same language and people are familiar with celiac and gluten intolerances and I still eat gluten and have reactions. For me, eating out is scary. Now I was heading for a Spanish speaking country (Huatulco, Mexico) and I had no clue if anyone would understand my questions.

I needed a plan.

We were staying in a condo so I could take some comfort foods with me. My thought was that IF it got too risky to eat out then I needed some options at the condo. But I knew that I would not be able to eat all my meals at the condo. What is the fun in that, lol.

Here was my plan:
-Take some food with me
-Google the local grocery store for potential food I can buy and prepare at the condo
-Accept that I may have a reaction and take things to help me if it does
-Gauge my servers English when asking questions
-Find dishes that will be on most menus that are safe
-Find a way to translate Spanish to English - an app
-If there was nothing that looked safe, I wouldn’t order and eat when we got back to the condo
-Know that I will trust heavily and hope for the best

Well, it worked! Yes, I had some bad indigestion but that was about it. I consider myself lucky. I found my menu items: ham and cheese omelette, quesadilla (sometimes with chicken) and for supper a bacon cheese burger with no bun. Sometimes I would have fries. I would have loved to have some sea food but I could never tell if it was breaded or if there was a sauce that I didn’t know if it was prepared. Salads were iffy anyway because I didn’t know what water washed the veggies.

I was so happy that brought food from home, about 10 pounds in my suitcase. Pasta, Mac & Cheese powder, spices to make dips so that I could have flavour.  All of this was from Epicure and I was so thankful to eat food I could trust.

There was one night that we went out for a fancy diner and our server spoke English really well. So asked my questions and she knew about celiac! She gave me some menu suggestions and I took my chance, I ate stuffed chicken that night AND I had an appetizer! It was amazing and it was the most confident in anything I ate in Mexico.

The morale of the story is that you CAN still have adventures if you are gluten intolerant. Planning, creativity and I slightly heavier suitcase will get you there.

PS
Some people ask me what I take IF I do accidentally ingest gluten. I will carry 3 products from Young Living. Digize essential oil helps me with heartburn and indigestion as well as diarrhea. I always have Essentialzymes-4 in my purse, it is a digestive enzyme for immediate and for slow release, so it goes farther in my digestive tract. I will also take Allerzyme WITH a double dose of Essentialzymes-4 if I get that gut wrenching pain. I also have Advil on hand for the joint pain that is coming. If you have questions about these products let me know. If you want to check them out with Young Living here is my link.  https://www.youngliving.com/vo/#/enhanced-enrollment?sponsorid=12709228&enrollerid=10957836&isocountrycode=CA&culture=en-CA&type=member

I also have a link for Epicure if you want to check out some of their gluten free products.
Let me know if you need any suggestions, it is all so yummy.

Happy eating:)

Meet Dawn Dykman

I figured it out! And now I feel great!

All my life I thought I was normal.
  • burped all the time
  • always had Tums with me
  • bloating - pain
  • binge ate
I had my gull bladder out at age 20 which I thought was normal. I was just like most of the females in my family.

My symptoms got worse over time.
  • IBS or no poop at all - plan my outings to where the washrooms are
  • brain fog - can not complete sentences or my thoughts
  • extreme fatigue - like can't get off the couch and the TV is NOT even on tired
I felt like I was losing myself. Everything I ate or drank made me feel yucky!

THEN in my early 40’s I became gluten intolerant.

Was I headed for a crash?? So scary!

And terrified about how the rest of my life was going to be like. I have always planned to live a long life but I want to be active and health while I do it.

I was feeling like an old person: always know where the bathroom was, wear stretchy clothes to accommodate the food baby and bloating, achy joints, brain fog, and wanting sleep all the time. I wasn’t living the life the way I wanted.

Hope comes from unexpected places; right? My step daughter was using essential oils and loved them AND she was using them on my grandkids. So if she trusted it so much  - I have it a try. There was a kit that I bought and in it was a blend called Digize. Oh My Gosh! All I did was put it where I was hurting and got immediate results! I was shocked and amazed. Life was going to be good after all, phew.

Because I had such great results with Digize I then had confidence to learn and try other products to help my gut. It was like night and day! I NEVER know what it actually felt like to FEEL GOOD. I didn’t know - now I do.

Do you know what it is like to feel good?

Life is meant to be lived. I crave new experiences all the time. Now that I have sorted out my digestive issues I can get on with learning new things and creating fantastic experiences.
